NASHVILLE — 13 May 2013 — Three of DC2 Healthcare’s senior leadership team, Fernando Diaz M.D., Ph.D, Christina Cook ,Ph.D, and Risa Tyo, Pharm.D, have had four of their research abstracts vetted by the World Federation of Neurological Societies and accepted for presentation at the World Congress of Neurosurgery in Seoul, South Korea.
All four abstracts focus on various forms of spine surgery in the cervical and lumbar regions. The topics are:
- Minimally Invasive Transverse Lumbar Fusion with Computer Navigational Guidance
- Interspinal Lumbar Decompression Fusion (ILIF) for Spinal Claudication
- Consistent Preservation of Cervical Lordosis through Minimally Invasive Access Surgery
- Nerve Protection in Extreme Lateral Interbody Fusion
Each study was conducted at the Michigan Head and Spine Institute by analyzing retrospective data for insights into the factors influencing optimal clinical outcomes.
“A large portion of my work during the last 5 years has been focused on researching methods for improving surgical outcomes for spine interventions as well as quantifying the associated costs,” said Dr. Diaz. “It’s great for the work we’ve been doing at DC2 to be recognized by our colleagues. I’m looking forward to sharing our findings in Seoul. “
Dr. Fernando Diaz currently serves as DC2 Healthcare’s chief medical officer. Additionally, Dr. Diaz practices neurosurgery at Michigan Head and Spine Institute and is the Chair of Neurosurgery at Oakland University School of Medicine and William Beaumont Hospital.
Christina Cook, PhD, is DC2 Healthcare’s founder and CEO. She has over 20 years of professional experience in healthcare, specifically with research initiatives. Mrs. Cook held several senior clinical research positions for pharmaceutical companies before founding DC2Healthcare to focus on outcomes research.
